I’ve met so many people who are interested in writing and just don’t know how to begin. The hardest part often is just sitting down and doing it.
So my advice is to just sit down and do it.
We all have stories inside us. Tell some. Start with one paragraph.
Or, start here. In this space I’ll give a prompt to help you explore emotional or self-awareness driven topics, and you can submit your piece to my site. Dig deep. Be vulnerable. I’ll post people’s work (including mine) anonymously. It is a safe but public place for you to explore your voice.
First Prompt: Letters I Never Wrote.
I believe in the power of letters. I also believe there are really hard things to say, and others that take a long time to figure out how to say them. But when we push these feelings down, they always push back. If we find a way to express them, we have a chance at healing, a chance to release their power over us.
Start by writing a letter you’ve never written. Say what you wish you’d said to someone. Try to concisely explore your experience, your self, your emotions. Send it to me and I’ll post it anonymously with this collection.
